Size guide
WOVEN WRAPS
Woven wraps come in many sizes, based on their length.
There can be small variations between different brands, but generally the sizes are:
- Size 1: 2.0 to 2.2m
- Size 2: 2.5 to 2.7m
- Size 3: 3.1 to 3.3m
- Size 4: 3.6 to 3.9m
- Size 5: 4.1 to 4.3m
- Size 6: 4.6 to 4.9m
- Size 7: 5.2 to 5.4m
- Size 8: 5.5 to 5.8m
- Size 9: 6m and above
Different length wraps allow you to do different carries. For most people, a “base size” will give you the length you need to do the most common carries (Front Wrap Cross Carry, Kangaroo Carry, Front Cross Carry, Robin’s Hip Carry, Ruck, Ruck tied Tibetan, Double Hammock). Going up a size or two will give you extra length for some of the fancy finishes, and going down a couple of sizes is a great shorty wrap for Rebozo carries, Ruck, Poppins Hip Carry and Torso carries.
For a guide to different carries and wrap lengths, check out the Wearing Wiki - http://www.wearingwiki.com/
Generally, a size 5 or 6 wrap is the best base size for a beginner. As you become more experienced at tightening your wrap to eliminate any slack, a size 4 or 5 wrap may become your new base size. Plus size wearers may wish to start with a longer wrap.
I try to keep a selection of wraps stocked in most sizes, but if I don’t have the size you are after, please send a message to discuss. I am happy to order products in as requested. Yaro Slings, Didymos and Natibaby all offer a very wide range of sizes.
RING SLINGS
Generally ring slings come in one size, approximately 170-185cm in length. This is measured along the shorter edge if there is a tapered end.
This length is suited for persons wearing sizes up to XL/18 AU.
If you are not sure, please measure the upper part of your body, from one shoulder down to the opposite waist height and back to the shoulder, just the way you will put on the sling. If you measure not more than 140 cm, this size will do.
Some manufacturers are able to make longer ring slings upon request. Please contact me to discuss your requirements.
Maya Wraps
Maya Ring slings come in four sizes. The sizing refers to the length of the tail and most users can use more than one size comfortably. When choosing your size consider your preferred tail length, but be sure that the tail comes at least to your waist. If you wish to use the tail as a cover for breastfeeding choose a size that will ensure the tail reaches your thigh. The model below would choose a size Large for discreet breastfeeding.
